Press work and press jobs

For many young people is a job in the press an absolute dream job. But many often do not know at this stage how complex is the press, and the possible career options here. Of course the first thing most people is one of the professional journalists. The classical reporter with a pencil behind his ear, which is investigative always looking for the latest story. A great role model for all who want to learn the profession of journalism is certainly Günther Wallraff. Of course, his famous undercover investigative reports to smell really exciting and thrilling work. Unforgettable are his stories revealing "Underground" and his newspaper picture trilogy, during which he delivered a veritable battle for journalistic ethics with the Springer-Verlag. The Watergate affair without the detection work of two courageous reporters would be the famous Washington Post, Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward, have never been exposed. And even Superman in real life is a reporter for the Daily Planet named Clark Kent, the rapporteur, as well as extraterrestrial savior is always immediately at the scene.

But what is the reality of a press job? Of course, there are very few reveal who work undercover and great stories. The daily routine at work designed in the press, although usually less spectacular than in Hollywood films, but is quite fascinating and in any case always responsibly. For a press work contributes significantly to public opinion and is therefore also known as the "fourth force" in the state. Here lies the fundamental difference between manipulative reporting into dictatorships and democratic freedom of expression. If you read today's article in the Nazi propaganda newspaper or looks at the agitations in the programs of the former GDR, so so many falls on a cold shiver. Here there is neither the principle of neutral reporting, nor the freedom of a rating review. The basic character of dictatorial propaganda is any lack of press freedom. But it was the neutrality of an article or report only allows the public to get an overview about the variety of information, rain down on us every day. What would the free coverage worth, if not the powers that would permanently meticulously looked sharp as knives on the fingers? A press work required therefore always to be conscientious and truthful representation of events and facts.
